Running Pssdiag

  1. Once you have created a pssdiag package (self-extractable .cab file). If you haven't done so, here is the instruction on how to do it
  2. Copy the .CAB to the machine where SQL Server is running or active node if it's a cluster. Use a local drive (do not use network drives as it impacts performance)
  3. Extract the contents of the .CAB file
  4. Double click pssdiag.cmd or run it from command prompt by typing "pssdiag"
  5. To stop, press Ctrl+C
  6. Files are captured in output directory. Zip and copy to a different machine for analysis. SQL Nexus can be used for performance analysis.
